In this shrine, a very old indigenous god of Suwa, Mishaguji-sama, is worshiped.
There are various kanji such as God of Shogun, and God of the left mouth. It is said it has believed in before the transmission of kanji(about 1st century), it is applied only by sound after the kanji has been transmitted. That’s why there are various notation.
So, Mishaguji-sama is an old indigenous god that could possibly be believed from the Yayoi era, as early as the Jomon Period.
Province Suwa was conquested by Takeminakata-no-mikoto but continued being believed in Suwa even after that.
In addition, Jinchokan who was the second highest position in the Suwa faith, is managing the festival concerning Mishakuji-sama. The festival is handed down from the father to only one of his sons.
